Advent Devotional: Day 4
“But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.” Micah 7:7 ESV
In the Old Testament times, the people had prophecies about the salvation of the Lord, The Messiah. They waited, for generations. Now, like then, we wait for the same Messiah.
What does your waiting look like? Honestly, our waiting looks a lot like theirs. We have families, careers, vacations, and friends. We toil at building something to be passed to the next generation or two. But ours should look differently because of the cross.
Our waiting should include sharing the gospel with the next generation. Our waiting should include time with the Lord in scripture and prayer. Not just in our times of trouble but in those times when all is good. When I find myself anxious about the world we live in, I can usually look at the core and see my time with the Lord has been missing.
Reflecting on hope-filled scripture soothes our souls, calms our fears and renews our faith. Actively seeking God provides a path to Him. Praying allows an open communication between He and I.
While I wait, I will Worship and Praise Him. While I wait, I will share my story for His glory. While I wait I will teach others about my God. I will seek Him with all my heart, while I wait for Him.
What does your waiting look like? Are you building something for the next generation? Or for His kingdom?
