Advent Devotional: Day 2
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 2:11 ESV
We put our hope in so many things—people are a common focus, especially leaders. I believe we are not alone in this. We saw God provide a visual pillar to lead His chosen through the wilderness. We are still looking for that visual guidance. They needed that visual guidance because they did not really know God. God had to show them, to teach them who He was. It couldn’t be a simple cloud, He had to make it God size. They didn’t have the faith for something small.
We have a similar tool to use. It is God size because it is God ordained. It isn’t in the sky, not like the sun or the moon. No, it is scripture. It is our guide through times of celebration and through trials. Like God’s chosen, we have a choice to read it and to use it.
Our faith comes from believing what has been written, His promises. It is in the unseen, you can’t hold it, touch it, smell it, or taste it; however, it is real. God reveals Himself in small mighty ways.
Our Hope comes from believing in His character, He promises and His word.
What is directing your Hope? Circumstances (the world around you) or God?
