Advent Devotional: Day 19 – Part 1
Luke 19:29-40
His disciples began rejoicing, not just the twelve, but the whole multitude (Luke 18:43). They had seen the works God had done through Jesus and it stirred them to rejoice and praise. The Pharisees wanted to silence them. But Jesus replied, “if they were silent, the rocks would cry out.” I have an image in my mind of pebbles to boulders under the foot of Jesus rumbling, vibrating with joy. Nature is where I find restoration, energizing rest. There have been times it has brought a closeness to my Savior that songs of praise bubble out of me. How do you express the love we have been given by the Father silently, as the Pharisees wanted His followers to do? I cannot be silent either.
When have you felt so overwhelmed with joy that songs of praise start bubbling out? When overwhelmed by circumstances, find those songs of praise and play them. It might just restore the Hope, Peace and Joy that come from the Father’s love.
